Distinguished Career Scientists |
Scientists seldom retire in the usual sense of the word. A scientist’s contributions to research do not cease simply because he or she chooses to relinquish administrative responsibilities or reaches “a certain age.” They can’t simply turn off their minds or stop the flow of questions they have been trained to ask. So, the designation of Distinguished Career Scientist was created to pay homage to their years of dedicated service to the scientific community and extend their time at the research bench. Since that time, four OMRF researchers have been named Distinguished Career Scientist, a designation which frees them from many administrative duties and allows them instead to follow their best instincts into the next frontier of research, mentoring younger counterparts, providing inspiration and weaving their legacy into the fiber of current projects in the lab.
