Research Interests Studying biology is complex, not just because the number of variables (e.g., genes and metabolies) is large, but because the number of possible interactions is far larger. High-throughput technologies are helping to gather more measurements, but a constant challenge is to bridge the gap between our vast and growing cumulative knowledge and our own individual knowledge. Reductionism remains the foundation of science, but I believe methods of integrating and modeling our cumulative knowledge will be rate-limiting in terms of how fast we can make new discoveries.
