Education Programs

Work Hours:

Typical work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Housing:

Private apartments in a gated complex located near OMRF are provided to scholars who live outside the Oklahoma City metro area.

Meals:

Breakfast is provided at no cost to all scholars every weekday morning in the OMRF Cafe. Otherwise, scholars are responsible for their own meals. Lunches may be purchased in the OMRF Cafe at the employee discount, which averages less than $5.00 per meal. Evening meals are the responsibility of each scholar, with the exception of the meal provided at social events.

Dress Code:

Please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes to work. Jeans are perfectly acceptable, as are athletic shoes. As you know, lab work can be messy, so please dress appropriately and avoid wearing torn clothes, dangling jewelry, etc.  Lab coats will be provided.

Tuesday Seminars:

Each Tuesday at noon, Foundation Scholars will have the opportunity to attend a seminar given by an OMRF research scientist. Lunch will be provided on those days, and there will be time to ask questions of the scientists following the seminars. The Fleming Scholars will attend these seminars, as well (see below).

Other Information:

While the Foundation Scholars Program is underway, OMRF's Sir Alexander Fleming Scholars will also be completing their eight-week program at OMRF. Instead of working as a group, as the Foundation Scholars do, Fleming Scholars are assigned to various laboratories throughout the foundation. Fleming and Foundation Scholars who live outside the Oklahoma City metro area are housed in the same complex and may attend some of the same social events.
