Listed below are the guidelines set up by Dr. Martin
Emory at University in conjunction with OMRF. Following the
guidelines will expedite the process of making a transgenic or knockout
mouse. Please contact Stephanie Bui at Stephanie-Bui@omrf.org with any
questions regarding these requirements.
Investigator contacts the Emory University Core Director, Dr. David Martin, at dwmarti@emory.edu
concerning the project to provide basic information, and to arrange for a full discussion of the project.
Emory Transgenic Core replies to investigator to set up a time, and also conveys this project request to the OMRF contact person,
Stephanie Bui.
Investigator and Emory Core director and facility manager (Helen Zhang, heju.zhang@emory.edu)
will conference to discuss project and to define the following:
Nature of project and overall goals
Project design and scope of work to be provided by Emory Core
Design of all screening strategies and definition of who will perform
the initial assays to test screening design
All screening strategies must be fully tested and accepted by
Emory Core
before work can begin on project
Based on the above discussion, the Emory Core Director will send a formalized project scope and quotation
to the investigator and to the OMRF contact person.
The investigator will approve that the project scope and design are as requested,
and approve the quote. This quote will be used by the investigator to generate
a Purchase Order to be approved and sent to Emory Core.
Investigator must also obtain an IACUC approval number to be sent to Emory Core.
Investigator must also fill out the Emory Core project request form found at:
http://corelabs.emory.edu/labs/transgenic_mouse/instructions.html.
The quote and the project request form should be forwarded directly to the OMRF contact office
(Stephanie Bui in Comparative Medicine).
OMRF will send the Emory Core administrator a copy of the approved quote and the project request forms.
The OMRF office will secure the PO, and provide it to the Emory Core when finished.
The Emory Core will confirm that all paperwork is complete, and that screening results have been approved.
The project will then be entered into the system and the investigator will be notified of project initiation
and an estimation of the project timeline.
Updates will be provided throughout the project to the investigator and the OMRF contact office.
Once samples are ready for shipment (either tail snips, DNA or animals), the Emory Core will contact the
OMRF contact office and the investigator to arrange for shipment. Shipment will be coordinated between
the OMRF contact office and the Emory Core administrator.
